The project co-located two school programs, Fort Saskatchewan Christian and Fort Saskatchewan Elementary on one site in an expanded existing facility with a total area of 6430m2 and an approved capacity of 750 students. The scope of work includes both a modernization of an existing school constructed in 1953 with a substantial addition in 1955, as well as a new addition. The final design permits autonomy of program within two distinct wings, with a common entry and shared core. This central space contains the libraries, administration suites, shared gathering space and gymnasia. The design allows for the emergence of space synergies and the fostering of community while housing two distinct schools in one facility. |
