Group2 Architecture Interior Design and Quinn Young Architects are pleased to announce that they have merged. Group2 has offices in Red Deer, Edmonton, Saskatoon and Calgary. Quinn Young was established almost 30 years ago in Calgary and is firmly rooted in that community.

The merge positions the firm for a strengthened foothold in the Calgary, and Western Canadian marketplace.

“Both firms have a reputation for high quality work and long term relationships with our clients,” says Craig Webber, Principal of Group2. “This core focus for our organizations will continue and more importantly forms the foundation for a successful future.”

“Our firms have shared mutual respect for each other for many years,” says Susan Taff, a Principal based in the new combined Calgary studio. “Our organizations are like-minded in our approach. We both value relationships we develop, and base these on trust, integrity and commitment.”

“Other strengths that bring the firms together include both firms’ extensive portfolios in education and recreation,” says Sheldon Quinn, a founding Principal of Quinn Young Architects.

And while the firms have some similarities, there is also excitement about unique strengths that each firm brings into the merger. "Quinn Young brings extensive background in sustainable design and broad experience with commercial clients, while Group2’s leadership with Building Information Modeling (BIM) will allow the new firm to take immediate steps forward in our service to clients,” says Rob Young, founding Principal of Quinn Young Architects.

“As we come together, we anticipate important synergies and opportunities for staff from both firms and throughout our entire organization,” says Craig Webber.

Group2 is also pleased to announce the appointment of three individuals to the role of Principal. Kari Anne Gaume from Group2 will lead the interior design team from our Red Deer studio. Susan Taff, formerly of Quinn Young, and Stacy Christensen from Group2 will be managing Principals of the combined Calgary studio with the support of Sheldon Quinn and Rob Young who will remain as active mentors and Principals with the firm. There is now more than 30 staff in the Calgary office. With studios in Red Deer, Edmonton, Saskatoon and Calgary, the firm now has more than 80 staff members.

Stacy Christensen, a Principal based in the new combined Calgary studio, says the merger brings added strength. “Clients can expect and rely on the same commitment to high quality work, as well as significantly more capacity and combined expertise of two exceptional firms.”
