Tuesday, February 19, 2013 When Group2 Architecture and Quinn Young Architects merged in March 2012, the two Calgary staffs moved into the Quinn Young space on 2nd Street S.E. just south of 62nd Avenue. They were cramped and became more so as the company grew in size, but their move to new premises is complete and the 9,400 square feet the firm now occupies on the main floor of the Sam Livingston Building on the corner of 12th Avenue and 4th Street S.W. signals the complete integration of the two firms. Group 2, now known as Group2 QYA Architecture Interior Design, has a companywide staff of 80, headquartered in Red Deer with other offices in Edmonton and Saskatoon. The Calgary studio employs 35 of those under the direction of principals and architects Susan Taff, who was an associate at 30-yearold Quinn Young since 2005, and Stacy Christensen who joined the Calgary office of Group 2 as an associate in 2009.The Sam Livingston building, a federal government property that formerly housed Canada Manpower, allowed QYA Group2 a large reception area and a meeting room large enough to accommodate clients and their consultants in discussing and showing interactive design proposals.
